A special information event is to be held next week for nearly 200 former Bord na Mona workers to engage with training and information about their social welfare entitlements
Almost two hundred former Bord na Móna workers in the Lanesboro, Ballyleague, Curraghroe, Ballagh, Kilgefin area are to be offered a fresh opportunity to engage with training and information about their social welfare entitlements at a special information event next week.
Roscommon Leader Partnership SICAP team are holding the event on Wednesday, February 2 at 3pm and again at 7pm in St Mary’s Bingo Hall, Ballyleague.
On the day a panel of experts will try to give all past workers and present Bord na Móna staff the opportunity to learn how how to retrain or reskill for local jobs, put up a social welfare stamp towards their pension or adjust to a new timeline with further education and training and social supports in the local area.
There will also be an opportunity to sign up for events such as health and safety courses, chainsaw use, CV preparation and digital skills training among many others.
A panel of professional experts from Citizens Information Centre will be there to give an insight into pension rights, tax issues surrounding redundancy payments and all available supports and how to maximise your income through social welfare.
No entrance ticket is needed. Workers past and present can turn up at either event and there will be an opportunity for workers to speak privately on a 1:1 basis with expert staff in the side rooms of the hall.
