Troy urges farmers to ensure their ANC appeals are lodged before April deadline
Fianna Fáil TD Robert Troy is encouraging farmers to ensure that they complete and submit their ANC appeals before the 8th April deadline.
The Areas of Natural Constraints scheme (ANC) deals with areas of land that are designated as disadvantaged.
Deputy Troy explained, “Theirs is under a week to go until the deadline for the ANC appeals and I am urging farmers to use this time to make sure that they complete their applications and get them lodged on time.
“Over the last year more than 700 towns lands lost their ANC status and I am expecting a large volume of appeals to be submitted. Any farmer who feels they may have a case to appeal to the Department should submit an application – there are a few days to go and farmers should spend this time filling out the appeals form and ensuring that they submit all of the necessary information.
“I would also encourage any farmer who is lodging an area aid application to mark their eligibility for the ANC scheme while they are going through the appeals process. This will ensure that if the appeal is successful payments will be made this year and not deferred until 2020.
“Many farmers are dealing with serious cash flow issues and any delay in payments could push them into an even more precarious situation”, concluded Deputy Troy.
