The 2018 Longford Rose winner, Loren Katie Logan from Edgeworthstown. The 2019 Longford Rose selection night is on April 6.

The Longford Rose selection night will take place on Saturday, April 6 in the Longford Arms Hotel at 8pm.

The 2018 Longford Rose winner was Edgeworthstown's Loren Katie Logan and the closing date for applications from Roses keen to follow in her footsteps is St Patrick's Day, Sunday, March 17.

Loren Katie represented Longford with distinction during her reign and Daphne Howard, a  member of the Longford Rose Centre organising committee, said, “We would encourage any young lady who would be interested in taking part to apply online at www.roseoftralee.ie.”

The format of the 2019 Rose of Tralee International Festival is different to previous years. There will be 32 Roses taking part in the Festival in Tralee as opposed to the 60 plus centres which are normally represented, with only 32 appearing in the TV final.

With these changes, it means the Longford Rose is guaranteed to appear on the live TV final and will be interviewed by Daithi O'Se at the festival which takes place from August 23 - 27. Due to this change, Longford will not be represented in 2020.

Daphne, the 2015 Longford Rose, remarked, “We encourage all ladies to consider representing themselves, their families and their communities in the Longford Rose Selection on April 6. It is a great experience.”

She added, “On the selection day, hair will be sponsored by the wonderful Grafters Hair Company and make up will be sponsored by Elisha Stokes MUA.

“On top of all this, the winning Rose will win free hair care for the year of her reign by Grafters Hair Company and will looking stylish with hat wear by Wendy Louise Designs.”
