Longford singer Sharyn Ward.
Ireland’s Got Talent returned at the weekend and showcased some of Ireland’s weird and wonderfully talented people who are bidding to take the title. Already there are two acts who are head-to-head for favouritism after wowing the judges and viewers.
Sea Of Change, a choir made up of cancer survivors and research supporters, booked their spots in the live shows after judge Denise Van Outen hit the Golden Buzzer following their emotional performance of The Greatest Showman’s ‘This Is Me’.
Longford's Sharyn Ward, Love/Hate’s John Connors’ aunt, impressed with her rendition of Stand By Me by Ben E. King, but blew everyone away with her take on Finbar Furey’s ‘Sweet Sixteen’ which her a full house of ‘Yes’ votes from the judges.
BoyleSports have made Sea of Change and Sharyn Ward joint 11/2 early favourites as both are seeing strong support from punters.
Other contenders who made it through on the first instalment of Ireland’s Got Talent were singer and pianist Declan Colgan (9/1), singer Jake O’Shea (14/1), Irish dancer Jim Elliot (25/1), musical duo Sparkle (28/1) and vintage singers Apple Blossoms (33/1).
Aoife Heffron, Spokesperson for BoyleSports commented: “Singers ruled the first round of Ireland’s Got Talent auditions, with six of the seven successful hopefuls all making it through on their vocals, but two acts shone brighter than the rest; Sea Of Change and Sharyn Ward.”
She added: “We’re leaving it up to punters to decide on their clear favourite because at present we cannot separate them and have made them 11/2 joint favourites as a result.”
