Longford Library services is among the most efficient within Longford Co Council and one of the most used local authority services in the country.

Members heard during a meeting of Longford Co Council last week that the latest programme indicators in relation to local authority performance, signalled the local library service as second to none.

“Overall, Longford has the highest visits to the library per head of population and this is a great achievement,” Head of Finance, Longford Co Council, John McKeon added.

Cllr Seamus Butler (FF) said the result was “outstanding”, while Cllr Paraic Brady (FG) added; “this is a very positive report”.

Cllr Gerry Warnock (Ind), meanwhile, told those gathered that it was evident that Longford Co Council was “punching well above its weight”.

“There are some very good results and it is great to hear that our library services are among the most accessed in the country. More positive news for Longford.”
