Woman who parked in Longford town disabled bay without a permit is convicted and fined
A woman who parked in a disabled bay in Longford Town and claimed she was unable to pay the fine after receiving a ticket has been convicted.
Katarzyna Grochowska of Deerpark, Kenagh, Longford appeared in Longford District Court charged with parking in a disabled bay at Main Street, Townparks, Longford on May 10 last year.
Garda Peter Vesey of Longford Garda Station said he was on mobile patrol in the area when he noticed and took details of a car parked in the disabled space without a valid permit.
Garda Vesey said he issued an on the spot fixed charge penalty notice fine but it went unpaid.

Garda Vesey said he took photographs as evidence as well and he offered to submit them.
The defendant had no previous convictions.
Ms Grochowska addressed Judge Owens.
"I know I failed to pay the fine, but that is because of my financial situation."
Ms Grochowska said she was an only child and she was sending money back to her native Poland for six years to help with nursing home care for her late mother, who passed away last December.
"I am ready to pay any fines, I can pay in parts." she added.
Judge Owens convicted the defendant and handed down a €300 fine with six months to pay.
