The Songbirds are a community singing group who came together in September 2023 to sing for fun and for general well being.

Hailing from Ballymahon and the surrounding areas and directed by Musical Director Angela Reynolds, the group is all female with the exception of the soundman Tommy Reynolds, affectionately known by the group as Thomasina! Rehearsals are creative and fun filled with a great sense of community and a shared love of music.

The group is supported by Ballymahon and Longford libraries and is sponsored by Creative Ireland.

To celebrate St Brigid’s Day, the group will perform some of their favourite songs to raise money for Women’s Aid.

Musical Director Angela Reynolds explained, “We are looking forward to our St Brigid's Day concert in St Munis Church. Forgney. Because St Brigid is a woman, we decided to raise money for Women's Aid.

“We have a wonderful line up of contemporary and old songs that our audience will surely enjoy. We also have some wonderful guest artists, the most famous being Charlie McGettigan who has been a great support to us from the start.”

It sounds like an evening not to be missed so come along to St Munis Church at 4pm on Sunday, February 1, and we’re sure you will enjoy the event.
