Longford has been allocated €3.5 million in Government funding for Active Travel and Greenways projects in 2026.
Minister for Transport Darragh O’Brien announced the allocation on Monday.
Deputy Micheál Carrigy said, “This funding is greatly welcome and will enhance numerous active travel and public transport experiences across County Longford while also making them safer for road users.

“It is particularly great to see Stonepark and Aughafad receiving the funding after a great push to ensure they received the long awaited funding to improve safe active travel routes in the areas.
“It is also fantastic to see numerous other areas in Longford included for funding for projects that range from safe routes to school to active travel to road and bus stop upgrades. This investment will enhance local communities and benefit road users in a safe way.”
