A new book project entitled ‘One Mystery, One Town’ is being launched on Wednesday, January 7 at 12.30pm in Edgeworthstown Community Library.

Organised by Enda Ward, the Home School Community Liaison in St Mary's National School, Edgeworthstown, the aim of the project is to try to get more pupils and people in the wider community reading and to get more people to engage with the Library.

Pupils from third class to sixth class will be reading a book called ‘The Case of the Vanishing Painting’ by Brian Gallagher over the next six weeks and the author will be visiting for the day on Friday, February 27.

The following is the contents of a handwritten letter from a sixth class student explaining the project;

“Dear friends and neighbours,

Our town has always thrived when we come together and this winter we have a wonderful opportunity to do just that.

We are launching our One Mystery One Town project inviting everyone to read and share Brian Gallagher’s exciting novel ‘The Case of the Vanishing Painting’.

Together we will read, discuss and celebrate this story culminating in a community showcase and a visit from the author himself.

This is more than just reading a book, it’s about sparking conversations across generations, encouraging children and parents to explore the same story. It’s a great way to make friends.

Just imagine meeting someone at the shop or on the streets and being able to chat about the same mystery, the same characters, the same twists and turns.

Your participation matters. Whether you pick the book up at school, borrow it from the library or share it around the kitchen table, you are part of something bigger, a town united by a story.

Let’s make this project unforgettable. Let’s show what happens when a whole community reads together. Join us in solving the mystery of ‘The Case of the Vanishing Painting’.”
