Garda Grinch chase and arrest

The Grinch goes on the run! Watch the full video below

A video taken in the aftermath of the Grinch being arrested and escorted out of Longford Shopping Centre by Longford Sergeant James Rowan is going viral on TikTok!

So far, the video - posted on the TikTok account @Livia - has been viewed over 360,000 times, shared 6,000 times, and had over 30,000 likes. Those numbers are quickly rising too.

What the video doesn’t catch however is the Grinch’s attempts to evade Gardaí which consequently led to Sgt Rowan embarking on a chase through the centre before cuffing the infamous Christmas villain.

In a longer video posted to Instagram by a different account, (which you can watch below) the Grinch can be seen stopping by a book stand to cause all sorts of annoyance for Longford author Jessica Thompson and Garda Anthony Scanlon who were busy selling the hugely popular book Blue Light Santa - the proceeds of which go to the Little Blue Heroes Foundation and Longford Westmeath Down Syndrome.

The Grinch swiftly takes off on the run however, when he turns a corner and spots Sergeant Rowan looking for him.

As he tore through the centre in a bid to escape, shoppers scattered in all directions. Thankfully however, Sgt Rowan was hot on his heels and it wasn't long before he found himself in cuffs and being marched into custody.

This is not the first time Longford Gardaí have apprehended the Grinch. Just a few weeks ago, he was caught in trying to steal presents from children in attendance at an event in Longford town.

Fortunately, he failed yet again in his attempts to ruin Christmas.

Check out below, the full video of his arrest by Sgt Rowan in the Longford Shopping Centre:
