Longford man appears in court accused of threatening another man with an axe

The preliminary hearing was heard at Longford District Court

A Longford man appeared in court last week accused of threatening another man with an axe.

James Heffernan of Silverbirches, Stonepark, who did not issue a plea during the preliminary hearing atLongford District Court.

Sgt Mark Mahon said a group of people were out at a camping party at Carrigallen Park at 1am on May 31 last.

The fire pit was knocked over with an axe and he told Judge Bernadette Owens it was alleged the defendant had threatened another man with the axe.

Judge Owens adjourned the case to next March for a plea or hearing date.
