The defendant is due in court this morning (Friday)
A man in his 40s, who was arrested and later charged in connection with an alleged violent assault in county Longford that resulted in a younger man, in his 20s being hospitalised is due to appear in Longford District Court this morning (Friday).
Gardaí are investigating the incident which took place in Edgeworthstown’s Bracklin Park estate just before 11pm on Tuesday evening and it is understood they have been speaking to neighbours and carrying out door-to-door enquiries in recent days.
A Garda spokesman said, Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of an alleged assault in Edgeworthstown, Co. Longford on Tuesday, 16th December 2025 at approximately 11.15pm.
"A man, in his 20s, was taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore for treatment.
"A man, in his 40s, was arrested and has since been charged. He is due to appear before the courts at a later date."
