RIP: North Longford mourns death of lovely, kind lady who enjoyed performing on stage

The late Noeleen Fagan (née Farrell), Willsbrook, Coolarty, Mostrim, Longford

Its with much sadness and regret that we record the death of Noeleen Fagan of Willsbrook, Coolarty which occurred on Thursday, October 9 last in the Regional Hospital in Mullingar following an illness borne with great resilience, courage and dignity.

Beloved wife of Sean and dear mother of Jonathan and Fidelma, Noeleen was predeceased by her parents James and Margaret Farrell, Bornacoola, Co Leitrim and her father in law Sean Fagan, Killeen.

Noeleen was a native of Bornacoola and she worked in the former Textile Industry in Longford and it was here she met her husband Sean Fagan and they settled down firstly in Ballymoney and when their new home was completed they moved to Willsbrook where they reared their two children Jonathan and Fidelma.

Noeleen was a lovely kind friendly lady who got involved in the local community and many will have great memories of her performing on stage with Killeen Dramatic Society and indeed of her and Sean getting the sing song going in McElvaneys or where ever the play after party might be.

Noeleen had a lovely singing voice and Lovely Leitrim and The Rose of Clare were her favourite party pieces and of course both her and Sean would do a duo with The Kilmuckridge Hunt or The Stone outside Dan Murphy's Door or the Wild Colonial Boy. In more recent years Noeleen's health began to fail and life was a struggle and following a stay in hospital she passed to her eternal reward and she will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Noeleen's remains were removed to St Mary's Church in Granard on Monday evening, October 13 and as the hearse made it's way up the hill it was flanked by a guard of honour from both Killeen Dramatic Society and the Ballymore GAA club with who  both Sean and Jonathan played. Large crowds attended and again on Tuesday afternoon the Church was full for her funeral Mass after which she was laid to rest with her parents in Cloonmorris cemetery in Co Leitrim.

We offer sincere sympathy to Sean, Jonathan and Fidelma and to Noeleen's brothers and sisters and the extended Farrell families, also to her mother in law Rosie Fagan, Killeen and the extended Fagan family. May Noeleen rest in peace.
