RIP: Tributes paid to 'kind' Longford lady who was 'Daniel O' Donnell's number one fan'

Tributes have poured in following the sad passing of Rita Keogh who has been remembered as a gentle, kind and beautiful person

RIP: 'Such a gentle kind person'- Tributes paid to Longford lady who sadly died

Tributes have poured in for Rita Keogh who sadly died recently, leaving many people in Longford heartbroken.

Rita was from Kilnatruhan, Killoe in Longford and passed away peacefully on October 11th 2025, predeceased by her father Jim, mother Una and her brother Jim.

Rita will be sadly missed by her loving family, brother John, sisters Mary and Breege (Keogh Kenny) and her partner Eamon Cunnane, brother-in-law Barry, sisters-in-law Deirdre and Eilish, nephews and nieces Sarah, James, Aileen, Joseph, Melissa, Mary and Adrienna, grand-nephews and grand-nieces, relatives, neighbours and her many great friends.

Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and loved Rita, with one mourner writing,

"Sincere sympathy to the Keogh family on the sad passing of Rita, a loving sister, aunt and daughter in law. I have great memories of Rita who was loved and cherished in her home in Kilnatruhan, a devoted member of our parish community; her gentle and loving nature endeared her to all who knew her. Rita is praying for her grieving family and all of us from her place in heaven. United now with her dear mother Una, her brother Jim, and all her family who have predeceased her. I regret I was unable to attend Rita’s funeral. Rest in peace. Prayers offered".

Another message said, "Our deep sympathy to Breidge and Family. Sad loss of your beautiful sister. We got to know Rita on your visits here. Her beautiful smile and such a gentle kind person. Touched our hearts. She is on Angel flying around
Breege you took such kind care on every step she went. God bless you all. Rest in perfect peace Rita".

"Sincere condolences to the Keogh family and to the Morlea House residents and staff team on the passing of lovely Rita. We will always remember our time with Rita so fondly. Full of mischief, fun and that wonderful cheeky grin! Daniel O Donnell’s number one fan, a true character. May her gentle soul rest in peace," Adult Respite Team St Christopher’s said.
