The local authority has provided conditional approval for the construction of glamping accommodation at Enybegs, Longford.

The planning permission is sought by Claire and Terrance Og Campbell Kiernan Steel Group Ltd and it was received by Longford County Council on October 25, 2024.

The decision was made by the local authority on October 6 last and it has 18 attached conditions.

Longford County Council granted conditional approval for six self-catering cabins consisting of two self catering cabins to accommodate two people, two cabins to facilitate five persons and two self-catering cabins large enough for eight people.

Conditional approval was also granted for the conversion of an existing agricultural outhouse building Into a visitors centre-shop-café and the proposed erection of two polytunnels and the construction of a retreat area.

Local authority planners also granted conditional permission for proposed onsite car parking areas with proposed alternations to existing vehicular entrance together with the proposed construction of an internal access road to facilitate the above.

The planning application had initially sought planning approval for glamping accommodation that would include 12 self catering cabins with a number suitable for couples and others suitable for five persons eight persons when the application was submitted on October 25, 2024.

The area of the site is 7,700 hectares and the gross floor space of the proposed works was listed at 1,956 square metres.

The plans also included the proposed construction of a storage shed, proposed installation of an onsite wastewater treatment system with polishing filter to service the proposed development and landscaping and all ancillary site works and this also received conditional approval.

A submission was received from Uisce Eireann on November 6, 2024 in relation to the planning application.
