Gardaí said no injuries were reported and investigations are ongoing
Gardaí are investigating criminal damage to a house caused during a petrol bomb attack on a house in Edgeworthstown on Sunday night.
The incident occurred shortly after 11pm when a person or persons damaged a rear window and attempted to throw a lit petrol bomb into the residence.
However, it is understood the petrol bomb did not enter the house ignited and there were no injuries sustained by anyone within the property and no interior fire damage as a result of the incident.
A Garda spokesman said; "Gardaí received a report of criminal damage by fire to a house at Edgeworthstown, Co Longford, shortly before 11:15pm on October 12th.
"No injuries were reported and investigations are ongoing."
Local Fine Gael Councillor Paul Ross said it was an unfortunate incident and thankfully nobody was injured.
"It's disappointing to hear about this first and foremost.
"I believe the guards are working on their inquiries and if anyone knows anything I would ask them to please contact An Garda Síochána with that information."
