Three men are currently in custody following a string of burglaries and a dramatic high speed chase across County Longford during the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).
Several squad cars were involved in the chase which came to a halt in Ballinalee village when a car sped out of control and crashed.
It followed a number of suspected burglaries in the Longford area which had been reported to gardai.
One of those took place at Legion Terrace in which an Opel Combo van was taken.
Another car was also stolen from the Drumlish area at around the same time although gardai are unsure about linking both incidents at this stage.
During the course of that investigation, a patrol car spotted the suspects and attempted to give chase.
The pursuit, which had started in Longford, ended a short time later when the alleged culprits crashed on the outskirts of Ballinalee village.
All three were arrested and are currently being detained in Longford and Granard Garda Stations.
