Longford Scuba Divers on a dive
Funding of €80,000 for a new vehicle for the County Longford scuba divers has been welcomed by Senator Joe Flaherty and Deputy Micheál Carrigy.
Longford Scuba Divers was founded in June 1989 by 23 divers from across the county.
Senator Flaherty said: “ I was delighted to get word from Minister Dara Calleary, approving €80,000 in CLAR funding to help secure a new vehicle for this important voluntary search and rescue organisation in Longford town.
"The new vehicle is one of 32 to be funded nationally.”
Deputy Carrigy said: “First responders are at the heart of our communities, and this support will strengthen their ability to respond quickly and effectively when called upon.
"I was delighted to work with the committee on this application, and I want to congratulate everyone involved on securing this support.”
