Elderly Longford man robbed by pair who targeted him and followed him when he left pub

Gardaí said investigations are ongoing

Gardaí are investigating the robbery of an elderly man in Longford town the early hours of last Friday.

The victim was targeted by two men who followed him when he left a Longford town pub.

It is understood the pair then threatened the man into handing over the contents of his wallet.

The pair took €75 in cash from the shaken victim and left the scene.

A Garda spokesperson said, "Gardaí received report of a robbery from a man in the Market Square area of Longford town in the early hours of Friday, 4th July 2025.

"Investigations are ongoing."
