Paschal Lyons worked diligently to get the electronic mechanism operating once more on the clock at Ardagh Clock Tower
Many of you may have already noticed that the Ardagh Clock Tower is once again showing the correct time, following recent repair efforts.
A sincere thank you goes to Paschal Lyons, who worked diligently to get the clock’s electronic mechanism operating once more.
It was not an easy task, as it required very specific expertise.
The community and the Clock Tower Committee are also incredibly grateful to George Corry, who generously covered the cost involved in getting the clock ticking again.

The committee is delighted to report that it has submitted a LEADER grant aid application to help fund further restoration work on the tower and surrounds.
The proposed works include the scaffolding and repointing of the tower, removal of biological growth, replacement of the door and installation of a new internal access ladder, restoration, cleaning, and painting of the remaining railings, repair of the entrance gate, and the services of a conservation architect/project supervisor construction stage (PSCS) to oversee the works (all subject to funding).
The total cost for this proposed project is €46,408, with a grant aid request of €34,806. The remaining balance will be covered by community fundraising efforts should the project be successful in its request for grant aid.
It is anticipated that the result of the grant aid application will be known by the end of September 2025.

This project will not be able to move forward without the benefit of grant aid, so we are hopeful that our application will prove successful.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support this important project. The Trustees and Committee of the Clock Tower remain committed to preserving this historic landmark for future generations, and will keep the community posted as the project progresses.
