Four local projects in County Longford have secured funding of up to €50,000 each a 'great boost'

Four local projects in county Longford have secured funding of up to €50,000 each under the latest round of the Community Recognition Fund, which has been described as a 'great boost' for the area.

Fine Gael TD Micheál Carrigy, said he is very pleased that the successful Longford projects include enhancement of outdoor space at Lus na Gréine Family Resource Centre, Granard, Longford County Council’s purchase of a site for Longford Civil Defence, Longford Tidy Towns upgrade work and Moyne Community School for football pitch improvements.

The funding allocation is part of a national €17 million investment announced by Minister Colm Burke and Minister Jerry Buttimer, supporting 212 projects across the country to improve sports facilities, parks, recreational trails, arts, culture, and community infrastructure.

Deputy Micheál Carrigy said:  “This is another great boost for Longford. Each of these projects plays an important role in building strong, inclusive, and welcoming communities.  

"This funding recognises the incredible work being done on the ground and supports the local response to population growth and community integration.

"I want to commend all involved for their vision and commitment to strengthening local services.”

The Community Recognition Fund was established to support areas that have welcomed people from other countries in recent years, helping to improve and expand local infrastructure. To date, it has delivered €100 million in funding across Ireland.
