Gardaí appeal for witnesses as male motorcyclist (50s) airlifted to hospital following Cavan crash

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a serious road traffic collision on the R194 in Virginia, Co Cavan yesterday, Sunday, May 18.

The collision involving a car and a motorcycle occurred at approximately 6.40pm on the outskirts of Virginia.

The male motorcyclist (50s) was airlifted to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

The male driver of the car and his female passenger were uninjured.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have completed an examination of the scene and the road has been reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Additionally, they are asking any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, from the area at the time to make it available to investigating Gardaí.
