RIP: Tragedy in Westmeath as young boy dies after being struck by car in housing estate

Gardaí in Mullingar are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal traffic collision in Mullingar, County Westmeath, which occurred on Monday, April 21.

Shortly after 6:30pm, Gardaí and emergency services responded to a collision in Farranshock Estate, Mullingar, after a young boy was struck by a car.

He was treated at the scene before being taken by ambulance to Mullingar Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The Coroner has been notified, and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.

The scene is currently preserved for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward. Road users or pedestrians who were in the area at the time and have camera footage (including dash-cam recordings) are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
