'Waiting on someone': Longford driver who parked in disabled bay fined
An able-bodied county Longford motorist, who parked in a disabled bay has been fined.
Colm McEvoy of Knappoge, Clondra, county Longford pleaded guilty to the offence at Longford District Court.
Sergeant Mark Mahon said that Garda Aidan Lenehan was on mobile patrol on September 24 last year when he observed the defendant park in the disabled bay at Townparks, Longford.
The officer asked Mr McEvoy if he had a disabled bay permit, however, he replied he did not have one.
"He said he was waiting on someone and I said he would be receiving an FCPN (fixed charge penalty notice)," Garda Lenehan stated. "He then said, 'I'm waiting on herself, just two minutes."
Garda Lenehan said the fixed charge fine was issued but it went unpaid.
