Supporting Longford female entrepreneurs to pursue their ambitions

Attendees at the Tri-County Women in Business event in celebration of International Women’s Day

Longford, Leitrim and Westmeath Local Enterprise Offices (LEO) came together to celebrate International Women’s Day with a Tri-County Women in Business event which took place in Mullingar Park Hotel on Friday, March 7.


The event included panel discussions and networking among attendees. On the day, County Longford was represented by businesswoman Niamh Parkes who spoke at the event with a presentation on her business, Heartlands Orchard.

Heartlands Orchard produces preserves, chutneys and sauces from Niamh’s orchard and gardens in Legan, County Longford.


MC for the event was Theresa Mulvihill from the business training and consultancy firm, Smart Marketing.

Guest speaker at the event was Tri-County Women in Business Chair Pat Murphy. Leitrim and Westmeath were represented by coaching psychologist Anna Marie Brosi, and Clair O'Neill from Meab Enamels, respectively.


Longford County Council Head of Enterprise Michael Nevin spoke of the importance of the Women in Business network.


“Businesswomen from across the Midlands have found their local Women in Business network to be a great resource, allowing the sharing of ideas and experiences.

It is important that the Local Enterprise Office can support female entrepreneurs to pursue their ambitions in terms of starting up and expanding their businesses.

The event was run by Leitrim, Longford and Westmeath LEOs and marked the conclusion of Local Enterprise Week 2025.


Local Enterprise Week is a national initiative with hundreds of events organised by the countrywide network of 31 LEOs.


The events are open to all entrepreneurs, startups and established businesses, with plenty of expert advice and networking opportunities available throughout the week.

It is supported by Enterprise Ireland and local authorities, including Longford County Council.
