“On a night such as this, some folk meet up at an old warehouse in response to a notice on a lamppost.
An invitation to join the oddest band that ever was in the making of the greatest album of the twenty-first century. Primitive recording equipment sits ready for use; the clock ticks it’s now or never,” so goes the introduction to Zeitgeist Jukebox a show set to thrill the Longford audience.
John Nee, more commonly known by his stage name Little John Nee, is an Irish storyteller, writer, performer and musician based in Galway. Nee was born in Glasgow in 1959, but returned to Letterkenny, Donegal, with his family when he was twelve.
It was here that he began performing in punk bands, such as Joe Petrol and the Petrol Bombs and Hemlock. He lived in London during the late seventies where he continued to perform, taking inspiration from the growing punk movement.
His latest artistic offering, Zeitgeist Jukebox, is an immersive theatre experience framed by Little John Nee’s masterful storytelling; a soulful antidote to the disconnection of our times, and a testament to the healing power of music.
This show is an invitation to sit back, relax and laugh, but should the music move you, you can jump up and join the band.
Little John Nee is a prolific writer and performer and he has developed a singular style of musical storytelling theatre that he describes as ‘gentle punk.’
Tickets for Zeitgeist Jukebox at Backstage Theatre on Thursday 27th March at 8:00pm are available from the box office on 0433347888.
