Tributes have been pouring in for Fr. Michael Mc Gowan of Rathcoole, Co. Dublin and formerly Cattan and Tawlaughtmore, Mohill, Co Leitrim.
Fr. Michael Mc Gowan passed away peacefully in the loving care of the management and staff of Lisheen Nursing Home, Rathcoole on February 11, 2025.
Mourners have left messages of condolences and memories on the priest's rip.ie page, remembering Fr Mc Gowan for the impact he had on people over the course of his life.

A fellow priest said: "A gentleman. I knew him when I was a young priest and he was the essence of kindness and encouragement to me."
A family wrote: "We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Dear Fr. Michael. He was such a kind and jovial man, whom we were all very fond of."
Another person said: " I played Golf with him several times fond memories of his time in Ballymore Eustace as Parish Priest Great Leitrim supporter."
Holy Family NS Principal Colm Byrne and Board of Management Chairperson Jim Walsh said: "The Board of Management, staff and entire school community of Holy Family NS, Rathcoole, wish to extend our condolences to Fr. Michael’s family and friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal agus dílis."
Fr. Michael Mc Gowan is predeceased by his parents Matt and Mary Ellen, brothers Fr. Myles and John {Nellie}, sisters Kathleen, Mary, Brigid and Sr. Mel. Deeply regretted by his nephews, nieces, grandnephew, grandnieces, Archbishop Dermot Farrell and priests of the Dublin archdiocese, former parishioners, relatives, neighbours and friends.
Fr. Michael will repose at Lisheen Nursing Home on Thursday February 13 from 4 p.m. until 5:30 followed by removal to Church of the Holy Family Rathcoole to arrive at 6 p.m. Requiem Mass on Friday February 14 at 12 noon, with burial afterwards in Mohill cemetery.
