Man in his 80s dies in Co Roscommon road crash

A man in his 80s has been killed in a road crash in Co Roscommon.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in County Roscommon on Monday, January 27.

Shortly after 6pm, Gardaí and emergency services responded to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the R377 on the outskirts of Castlerea.

The pedestrian, a male in his 80s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The scene is preserved for a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators and the local Coroner has been notified. The motorist did not require immediate medical treatment.

The road remains closed with local diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
