UPDATE: Location of alternative water supplies for Longford customers hit by outages and disruption

Water has returned a number of locations and Alternative Water Supplies will remain in place until such time as the water treatment plants no longer operate on generators and mains power supply has been restored

Uisce Éireann is working on alternative water supplies for Longford customers hit by outages and disruptions. 

New
Lanesboro (carpark beside bridge) – 20,000 litres tanker been delivered by Campions and to be in place by 12 noon on Monday, January 27
Ballymahon (wide section of verge along the mart) – 20,000 litres tanker been delivered by Cantwells and to be in place by 1pm on Monday, January 27
Granard (New council carpark behind Granard Garda Barracks) 20,000 litres tanker been delivered by Cantwells and to be in place by 2pm on Monday, January 27
Existing
Longford Town (Cathedral carpark) – 20,000 litres tanker in place
Edgeworthstown (Carpark at rear of Library) – 1000 litres tanker in place
Proposed Relocations of Tankers from locations where water supply has returned
Smear/Augnacliffe to Ballinamuck – 1000 litre tanker
Ballymahon to Ardagh – 1000 litre
Longford to Keenagh – 1000 litre
Granard – location to be confirmed – 1000 litre
Pallets of bottled water scheduled for delivery to Loughforbes water treatment plant (Monday evening) for distribution by Uisce Éireann and collection and distribution by Longford County Council as requested and community needs identified.
Water has returned to the following locations (this will require confirmation as the day progresses);
  • Longford Town
  • Newtownforbes
  • Cloondara
  • Drumlish
  • Newtowncashel
  • Smear/Aughnacliffe
It is envisaged that the Alternative Water Supplies will remain in place (and be regularly topped up) until such time as the water treatment plants no longer operate on generators and mains power supply has been restored.
