A man in the Midlands was caught driving two different cars without insurance inside three days.

Garda Marius Stones said that the vehicles being driven by Radomyr Kalmykov (29) were seized on both occasions.

“He was on his way back from Hamills (motoring services company) trying the get the first car out when he was stopped the second time,” Garda Stones told Judge Andrew Cody.

The garda outlined how he first stopped Mr Kalmykov, with an address at Mount Vista, Retreat Road, Athlone on the M6 at Rathgarret, Co Westmeath on June 18 last year.

The driver subsequently failed to produce insurance covering him to drive the vehicle, which had a 2010 Tipperary South registration.

Garda Stones said the man was not long in Ireland and had no previous convictions.

The motorist was summonsed for insurance and NCT offences but was not in court on Wednesday, January 16 when Garda Stones prosecuted him.
