Mr and Mrs Claus and the elves in Santa’s Grotto and Drumlish Christmas Markets, organised by Gaels United

Gaels United FC organised quite the treat for the children of Drumlish this year. Santa Claus made his way down to the garden of the Mill Bar to see how everything was getting on in the lead-up to Christmas.

He was in Drumlish for two days from the 7 to the 8 December. There were even gifts on offer for those who have been extra well-behaved.

But presents weren’t the only thing on offer Saturday and Sunday Mrs Claus also told stories to those in attendance.
The kids also got to colour in their decorations and add a personal touch to their Christmas tree.

But someone else was lurking about, The Grinch was also there but he didn’t manage to steal Christmas this time around.
Caroline Maheer spoke to us before the event regarding what was going to feature.

“The Grinch will try to mess it up, he will throw mismatched socks at the kids,” she explained.

Children got the chance to be extra prepared for Christmas Eve by making homemade reindeer food and even fairy dust.

“They all make their reindeer food, they can make their decorations with arts and crafts, we have music on as well so they can dance away.”

Hot Chocolate and Crepes were on sale to keep everyone nice and warm.

There will also be a chance to do some Christmas Shopping as the Christmas Craft Fair will be running alongside Santa’s Drumlish visit.

Multiple local crafters were present, selling their wares.

Chloe Ella was one of the sellers present, selling Reindeer hot chocolate kits and homemade bracelets.

Jo Tully was selling her candles and wax melts, including some very funny melted snowmen.

The event was also a fundraiser, it was €12 per child but the adults went free.

Caroline spoke about the fundraising aspect of it.

“We’re constantly looking to get funding there,” concluded Caroline.

Gaels United FC is a local soccer team in Drumlish.

Of, course events like this are vital for the clubs running as soccer doesn't get as much attention as other sports teams.

“We’re always struggling in that it’s hard to get people to support us, it is what it is soccer would always take a back foot to the other teams.”

The event went well and was enjoyed by all ages.
