Newly weds Aidan McElligott, Mullinalaghta and Sinéad McKenna, Crosserlough
The Mullinalaghta wedding trilogy concluded last Friday when a large crowd travelled to Laragh for the wedding of Sinéad McKenna, daughter of Bernie and the late Dominic, Drumole, Laragh, and Aidan McElligott, son of Bernie and Dan McElligott, Toome.
Both bride and groom are highly accomplished in sporting circles with Crosserlough camogie and Mullinalaghta football respectively, and there were a large number of members of both squads present for the ceremony including a number who had travelled long distances to the nuptials. The ceremony was officiated by Fr Martin Gilchreest.
The bridesmaids were Alma Sheridan, Leah O’Brien, Mary Moore, and Nora McDermott with Molly Lynch as flower girl, while the groom’s four brothers Cian, Conor, Dónal and Ruairí acted as groomsmen with Aidan’s nephew Fionn being the ring bearer.
After the ceremony, the wedding party travelled to the lakeside ambience of the Crover House Hotel where an excellent meal was served by the attentive staff, followed by a number of witty and poetic speeches by MC “Chops”, the mother of the bride, and the usual outstanding contribution from the father of the groom, as well as by the happy couple themselves with tribute being paid in remembrance of Sinéad’s late father.
Music and dancing were provided into the early hours by The Seducers.
Storm Darragh raging outside as the night went on briefly caused a power interruption but was happily not responsible for the felling of any trees within the venue.
