Final Longford Public Participation Network plenary meeting of 2024 takes place this evening

The meeting will be a celebration of PPNs 10-year anniversary with refreshments and prizes for all to enjo.

County Longford PPN facilitates community voice when decisions that impact people’s lives are being made

All County Longford Public Participation Network (PPN) member groups are invited to the final County Plenary Meeting of 2024, Monday, December 2 in Longford Library. Registration commences at 7.15pm sharp.

The meeting will be a celebration of PPNs 10-year anniversary with refreshments and prizes for all to enjoy.

Tess Murphy, PPN Secretariat will chair the meeting with guest speakers, Barabara Heslin, Director of Services, Community & Enterprise, Longford County Council and a diverse range of PPN Representatives who will speak about the importance of the PPN over the past decade.

Ms Heslin noted, “At the November Council meeting, Longford County Council unanimously adopted its new 5 year Corporate Plan. This plan sets out a vision of an ambitious county providing opportunities for all.

“Over the past 10 years the Council has collaborated closely with the Public Participation Network to ensure communities can identify and seize opportunities to transform their locality and have input into policy development. Working together with all our stakeholders we can build a future that prioritises inclusivity, sustainability, empowerment, and safety.”

Eileen Finan, Kathleen Dowd, Karen Reilly, Maria Keelty and Kerri Pendergast will speak of their experiences as PPN Representatives who sit on decision making Boards/Committees both inside and outside the Council ranging from the Local Community Development Committee (LCDC), Safety, Community Employment, Disability and Childcare.

Siobhán Cronogue, Longford PPN Coordinator said of the upcoming meeting, “It will be a great opportunity for members to network and celebrate the PPNs success over the 10 years.

“Initially we started out with 93 community groups and currently we have 600. Community groups join the PPN for a myriad of reasons from being kept up to date on events, funding opportunities, public consultations to having the opportunity to have a voice at the decision-making table to enjoying the social and networking side of being part of such a large network.”
