The Granard Christmas Craft Fair will be taking place this Saturday, 30 November.

It will be a change of scenery for the fair and its vendors this year however as it will be moving into the Granard Community Centre, just a few metres down the town from its former place of residence The Granard Butter Market which has since closed down.

The fair will be totally indoors this year.

Caroline Slevin who is an organiser for the event.

“In this weather, you’d be glad it’s indoors,” joked Caroline.

She was kind enough to give us in the Longford Leader a bit of insight as to what might be featured in the fair this weekend.

“The Christmas Fair and The Crafters market will be taking place on the 30 November and the 14 of December and will run from 12 to 4 pm,” said Caroline.

So those who can’t make it to the first one can get another chance in two weeks.

“We’ve got the usual we’ve got bakers, crafters, handmade jewellery, handbags, there is someone selling crochet knitted handbags.

“Some people will be selling cushions, oven mitts, there is somebody doing stain glass and there is a couple of different types of jewellery,” explained Caroline.

“There’s pebble art, there will be tea and coffee and candy floss and popcorn making.”

The reaction from vendors who will be setting up their stalls at the fair was huge.

“We’re fully booked up we’ve had most of the stalls booked since July,” says Caroline.

Festive entertainment will also be available at the fair.

“We’ve got local choirs and musicians coming.”

The fair is also giving local TY students a chance to get involved so many will be present at both events.

As well a raffle will be held at the fair featuring lots of goodies donated by local businesses.
