Niall McCabe
Niall McCabe is a folk singer, songwriter and instrumentalist from Clare Island off the coast of Mayo.
With a critically acclaimed debut solo album on heavy rotation on Irish radio, McCabe’s natural, distinct voice is earning a growing and loyal fanbase on both sides of the Atlantic.

His evocative folk music is rooted in story and place, returning always to the melodic and lyrical texture of the remote island where he grew up. His distinctive vocal and uniquely developed guitar-picking style herald an exciting, vibrant talent recognised by his audience, peers and contemporaries.
Niall McCabe has had an intensive year touring and recording his next album, from which he releases his second single on the 15th Nov and will be performing that and his other new songs at The Backstage Theatre show.

An annual focal point of Celtic Connections, the exclusive line-up combines guest singers and the celebrated house band, inviting them to interweave original material with age-old tunes and songs as they explore shared roots and find new common ground.
Special Guests Julie Fowlis, Niall McCabe, Loudon Wainwright III along with Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams will join the show’s seasoned house band, guided as ever by Aly Bain and Jerry Douglas, features renowned Celtic and Americana roots musicians Phil Cunningham, John Doyle, Michael McGoldrick, Tatiana Hargreaves & Allison de Groot, John McCusker, Donald Shaw, James Mackintosh and Daniel Kimbro.
Niall also has extensive international touring experience as a guest singer with Beoga, having opened for Ed Sheeran, and Johnny Swim and more recently solo support for Chris Isaak in the London Apollo, Mary Black in the Olympia Dublin and Galway, and last year with Sharon Shannon in The City Winery, New York.

Niall has been working on his second Album and his next single is out on the 15 November, a beautiful emotional song called Crescendo.
