Longford County Council have issued notices regarding road closures that will affect motorists in the coming days.
Longford County Council has advised road users that roadworks are to be carried out on the L-1162 Killashee to Clondra.
The works started yesterday, Tuesday, October 22 and run up to Friday, November 1, 2024
The closure is between 8:00am and 6:00pm. These roadworks are required to facilitate essential drainage works at Templeton Glebe.
A traffic management system (Traffic Lights) will be in place for the duration of the works
Local access will be facilitated, but delays can be expected.
Next week works start on a significant portion of the N55 between Athlone and Ballymahon.
To facilitate resurfacing works between Glasson Village and Ballymahon, Longford County Council have gives notice that it has made an order to close the N55 between Ballymahon and Athlone.
The works starts next Tuesday, October 29 to Friday, November 1, 2024 between 8:00am to 5:30pm.
The alternative route between Ballymahon to Athlone sees diversions in Ballymahon via R-392 towards Mullingar. Turn right at Kilgawny and take the R-398 to Loughnavalley. At Loughnavalley turn right and take the R-390 to Ballykeeran, then follow signs for N55 Athlone.
Between Athlone and Ballymahon the diversion is at Ballykeeran, via the R-390 towards Loughnavalley. At Loughnavalley turn left and take the R-398 to Kilgawny. At Kilgawny turn left and take the R-392 to Ballymahon.
Local Access will be permitted to Ballykeeran and Glasson along the N55 from Athlone during hours of closure.
In the interest of road safety, you are requested to follow diversions and heed all signs.
