On the north side of Lough Ree serving the villages of Lanesboro and Ballyleague a local service station has made a generous donation to Lough Ree RNLI.
At the official opening ceremony for the new boathouse in Coosan Lough Ree RNLI visitors were serenaded with a wonderful rendition of ‘Where the three counties meet.’ The song, a hit for Shannon side native Brendan Shine celebrates Lough Ree and the three counties which surround it.

This month all the stars aligned when the Inver service station in Ballyleague, Co Roscommon which also serves Lanesboro, on the Longford side of the bridge made a special presentation to volunteers from Lough Ree RNLI, which has its base in Coosan, Co Westmeath.
Lough Ree RNLI volunteer Operations Manger Kevin Ganly, Treasurer Vincent Rafter and founding member Damien Delaney travelled to the Shannonside village to accept a generous donation of €1,000 on behalf of Mandeep Singh at the local Inver service station.

On the occasion they were greeted by Farhan Niazi of Inver, Ballyleague and Alan Horohoe of SuperValu, Lanesboro, proprietor of the site.

Following the presentation Lough Ree RNLI volunteer Operations Manager, Kevin Ganly said: ‘the support our charity receives from all parts of the local community saves lives every day on our waters. Our volunteer crew have responded to many call-outs this year to the northern end of the lake and remain on watch to respond at any moment to an emergency.’
