In the first quarter of this year, five dementia deaths were recorded in county Longford
A total of 14 dementia and Alzheimer’s deaths were recorded in county Longford between October and March.
That is according to the latest CSO Vital Statistics report.
The figures showed there were 22 attributed dementia and Alzheimer’s deaths during a 12-month period.
In the first quarter of this year, five dementia deaths were recorded in county Longford, which included two men and three women.

Four Alzheimer’s deaths were registered in the county during the same three-month period when two men and one woman passed away with the disease.
The report shows in the fourth quarter of 2023, two dementia deaths were recorded of a man and a woman.
Three Alzheimer’s deaths were registered in the county in the same period, comprising of two men and one woman.
