Late Adrian (Adie) Farrell, Corner House, Main Street, Lanesboro served on Longford County Council for 39 years
The funeral arrangements have been announced for 'astute businessman' and 'pragmatic Longford politician', Adie Farrell, who passed to his eternal reward yesterday, Monday, September 30.
Having served on Longford County Council for 39 years, the late Adrian (Adie) Farrell, Corner House, Main Street, Lanesboro, Co Longford was a legendary figure on the local political scene.
Ciaran Mullooly MEP remembered Adrian Farrell as a 'one-off character'.
"He was a pragmatic politician who served his community well and always put his community first. He was a witty man although a man of few words. He was also an astute businessman who loved farming and sport. His likes will never be seen again," remarked MEP Mullooly.

A much loved and highly regarded publican and undertaker, Mr Farrell died peacefully on Monday in the Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar surrounded by his loving family.
He was predeceased by his father Gerald, mother Ena, brother Gerdie and beloved wife Josephine.
Adie will be dearly missed by his son Gerald, daughter Lorraine, grandson Oisin, sister Eugenie Mc Cabe, Lorraine's partner Alan, daughter in law Sarah, sister in law Doreen Corroon, brothers in law Jim Mc Cabe & Christy, Corroon, nieces, nephew, grand nieces, grand nephews, former colleagues, neighbours & many friends. May Adie Rest in Peace.
He will lie in repose at Adie Farrell's Bar & Restaurant, Lanesboro (N39 NX65) on Wednesday, October 2 from 4pm to 8pm.

Funeral Cortege will leave the family home at 11:40am on Thursday, October 3 arriving at St Mary's Church, Lanesboro for Funeral Mass at 12 noon with burial afterwards in Rathcline Cemetery.
