Granard event marks  Ukraine’s National Independence Day

Celebrating Ukraine’s National Independence Day in Granard

Ukraine’s National Independence Day was celebrated with a large community turnout at St Mary’s Grounds in Granard on Saturday, August 24.


The celebrations included an archery workshop and demonstrations, face painting, refreshments and with activities for children and adults alike.


The event was organised by Longford County Council and its Integration team with the help of Lus na Gréine Family Resource Centre (FRC), local Gardaí and many local volunteers.


Longford County Council Chief Executive Paddy Mahon said, “The Council proudly supports these community events which help new and more established communities in County Longford get to know one another. Events such as this also supports integration and celebrates our diversity.”


Eileen Finan from Lus na Gréine FRC added, “This event means so much to the local multicultural community in North Longford. It was a pleasure to see families enjoying the camaraderie and trying out their archery skills."
