Proud: Doting grandparents PJ and Lucy Finnan with the triplets Darcie, Dominic and Daisie
Longford triplets who were born three months premature and survived against all the odds enjoyed their first day at school recently.
Mother Marie Murphy, from Campbells Drive, said they were very proud to bring Darcie, Daisie and Dominic (all 4) to St Eimear's National School where they have settled in very well.
"They are the first ever set of triplets to go to the school. They are the liveliest little kids that you would ever see in your life and they are all go all day long." she stated. "They are best friends one minute and they are boxing the head off each other the next.
“But then if you give out to one for fighting with the other the other one is hugging her and saying don't give out to her."
Marie insisted they are very close and she compared them to a little army who protect each other.
The adoring mother said the triplets have brought a lot of happiness and joy to her, dad Warren, their five older siblings and their grandparents.

"The biggest challenge they overcame was that they were three months premature and I was told none of them would ever live," she recalled. "They fought the whole way, the smallest one was born just one pound in weight and they really were up against it, they were in hospital for the first 12 weeks of their lives."

The mother of eight, whose eldest child is 21, stated that it is a very busy house in the mornings with plenty of chaos and noise.
"It is tough going getting them all out but I am lucky to have them," she added.
Proud grandparents PJ and Lucy Finnan were also at the house to mark the occasion before the triplets milestone first day.

Mr Finnan, from Springlawn, was seriously injured following a shooting on July 17.
He was in the downstairs living room of his home at around 7:50pm when shots were fired through the window.
The 74 year old was taken to Regional Hospital Mullingar following the incident.
Marie said thankfully PJ was there to mark the special occasion with them.
“It was an even better day to have dad there, we were very lucky,” she added.
