Longford TD hears future of the the Irish post office network is dependent on political support

The future of the the Irish post office network is dependent on political support members of the Oireachtas were told by a delegate from the Irish Postmasters’ Union.

Longford TD, Deputy Joe Flaherty, met with Ned O’Hara, the General Secretary of the Irish Postmasters’ Union, at a IPU presentation to elected representatives on September 18 in the AV Room, Leinster House.

The presentation addressed the opportunities and challenges facing the post office network and emphasised the need for long-term government funding to secure the future of these essential community services.

“Post offices play a vital role in connecting communities across Ireland with government services, and this discussion highlighted their importance,” Mr O'Hara said of the presentation.
