A Longford man has put up a €1,000 reward in relation to a fox that was shot outside his house recently.
The young female fox was shot outside the residence of Francis Ward from Clonterm.
“On the night of Friday, August 2, at around 11.30 pm, I heard the shot. A car stopped outside the house, turned off its lights and shot the fox in close proximity to my house,” he stated.

“My neighbours caught the shooting on CCTV. It was a senseless act to shoot this young female fox,” Francis added.

Francis went on to say that such a shooting carries the penalty of the automatic revocation of a gun licence.
“I am giving a reward of €1,000 for information in relation to the shooting,” Francis stated.
Gardai are continuing their enquiries into the incident.
