'A great loss to the community': Renowned Cavan piper Sean Kelly remembered as 'a pure gentleman'

The Late Sean Kelly, Derrycramph, Cavan

The death of Sean Kelly, Derrycramph, Cavan, on Wednesday August 7, peacefully at Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by his family, evoked widespread mourning.

Predeceased by his parents John Joe and Kathleen and his brother Felim, the late Sean will be very sadly missed by his sisters Pearl, Patricia and Carmel, brothers in law John, Jim and Bud, sister-in-law Bernie, nephews and nieces, grandnephews and nieces, his very good neighbours, his colleagues at Bus Eireann, all his fellow Pipe Band members, all his extended family and his wide circle of friends.

Sean will be fondly remembered for playing the bagpipes at so many events and occasions.

Personally, I will remember him for leading Santa down through Ballinagh at Christmas.

He was a pure gentleman and will be a great loss to the community.

Sean's Funeral Mass took place on Sunday, August 11 in the Cathedral of St Patrick and Felim, Cavan followed by burial  afterwards in St Patrick's Church, Drumcor in the family plot. Donations in lieu of the Palliative Care Unit, Cavan General Hospital.

May your gentle Soul Sean rest in Peace.
