65th Arva Show promises much excitement for all the family

Arva Agricultural Show Society will hold their 65th annual show this Sunday, July 28, and families across Longford are encouraged to attend the exciting weekend event.

The show will take place in the Show Field, with the kind permission of Ms Philomena Fyfe.

This year promises to be another exciting event, with pony, horse, cattle, sheep, goats and poultry classes out on the field. Home crafts, farm and garden classes will be held in the Marquee, as will the ever popular Dog Show.

Entries for the Dog Show will be taken at the Ring from 12 noon onwards with 15 Classes – the last being a Qualifier Class for the All-Ireland Gun Dog Championship.

A Bonny Baby competition will also be held starting at 1.30pm in front of the Secretaries Office.

This year's free kids zone will also feature magic shows throughout the day, face painters, arts and crafts and much more.

After a rainy affair last year, the organising committee have said that they are looking forward to a dry day "so that everyone can enjoy the event in comfort".

The Show Dance on that night will be held in the Breffni Arms Hotel with music by the great Johnny Brady which will round off a great day.

Organisers of the big upcoming event said Johnny Brady "is hugely popular so there should be a great attendance at the Dance".

"We appeal to everyone to come along and support this voluntary committee who keep “The Show on the Road”."

The Arva Show Society committee meets in St Patrick's Hall on Wednesday, July 24 at 9pm. All members, stewards and volunteers are requested to attend so that jobs can be allocated to all.
