Longford County Council is holding a public consultation period for its Corporate Plan 2024-2029, the draft Strategic Policy Committee Scheme 2024-2029, and the Customer Services Charter 2024-2029.

The Corporate Plan 2024-2029 will set out the vision and priorities for County Longford over the next five years. It will contain strategies and objectives for the county which will inform the work of the Council. The plan will be agile and allow for changing priorities and, when necessary, reallocation of resources.

The Draft Strategic Policy Committee Scheme 2024-2029 proposes four new Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs) which will help develop, monitor, and review Council policy.

They are: a Social Development SPC, a Physical Development SPC, an Economic and Rural Development SPC, and a Governance SPC. SPCs are made up of elected members and people from social, community, voluntary, cultural, economic, business, and environmental organisations – allowing for a range of diverse voices to be included in policymaking.
The Customer Services Charter 2024-2029 will detail what citizens and customers can expect from our service delivery. It will set out the standards of service which can be expected from the Council and outlines the ways service for customers will be continuously monitored and improved.

Longford citizens, local business and community organisations are being asked to participate in these public consultation processes which are now open. To take part, visit the Public Consultation page under the Your Council section on Longfordcoco.ie. Submissions should be made before Wednesday, 21 August.

Longford County Council Cathaoirleach Cllr Mark Casey (pictured) said, “The Corporate Plan, SPC Scheme and the Customer Services Charter will have a great impact on the work of the Council for the next five years. I encourage everyone to get involved and to make their submission on the Public Consultation section of Longfordcoco.ie. We are eager to get as many views as possible from across the entire county of Longford. We look forward to seeing and incorporating your submissions.”
Longford County Council Chief Executive Paddy Mahon said, “As we begin to develop our new Corporate Plan, new SPC Scheme and update our Customer Services Charter, we want as many people as possible to get involved in these public consultations so that the ideas of County Longford people are reflected and influence the work of the Council for the next five years.”
