Man dies following tragic Castlepollard road crash

Gardaí are investigating a single-vehicle fatal road traffic collision involving a car that occurred on the R395 at Teevrevagh, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath.

At approximately 6.40pm on Tuesday evening, July 2, Gardaí were alerted to a vehicle which had collided with a roadside ditch. 

The male driver of the car, aged in his 50s and sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The R395 at Teevrevagh, Castlepollard was closed with local diversions in place to allow for a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Teevrevagh area are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
