We are all well aware of the value of lifebuoys and how vital they are at all points of the river. Unfortunately, there are some people that recently felt there was no need for them in their holder on the Shannon banks in Lanesboro and Ballyleague.
On Wednesday last the Lough Ree Access for All Boat while on its trip to the islands picked up not one but three lifebuoys that were cast into the river the previous night.
If anybody has any idea as to who did this terrible deed they should ask them to stop as the lifebuoys do save lives. Who knows it may be themselves or some member of their family or friends that would be in need and not to have one is unforgivable.
