Tributes paid following sad death of beloved woman from Longford who 'always had a bright smile'

Marie Dalton (née McCormack) passed away last Tuesday

Sadly we record the death of Marie Dalton (née McCormack), late of Listubbit, Ballymahon, who passed away after a declining illness on June 18.

Marie died peacefully at home surrounded by her family in her 89th year.

Marie was predeceased by her husband Patrick who she cared for on a daily basis during a prolonged illness over many years.

She was a dedicated family woman where her children and husband always came first. A great lady for the chat and the cup of tea.

She was also a lifelong Bingo player, a past time she shared with her late husband. Although a house proud lady she always found the time to look after the farm and livestock while her husband was away on his lorry driving job.

She was predeceased by her husband Pat and brothers Patrick and Thomas.

We offer our sincere sympathy to her son Padraig, daughters Mary, Elizabeth and Bernadette, brother Johnny, sisters in law Chrissie, Patsy and Gertie, grandchildren, sons in law and daughter in law.

Marie's funeral took place to Carrickedmond cemetery after her funeral Mass on Friday June 20.

Tributes have been paid on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Marie, with one mourner writing,

"Our deepest sympathy to Marie's family, her brother Johnny, all the extended Dalton and McCormack relatives on her passing. A lovely friendly Lady and always smiling. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. May she Rest in Eternal Peace."

Another wrote,

"Deepest sympathy to the Quinn family on the sad passing of Marie. She was a lovely woman and always had a bright smile on her. Rest in peace Marie."

While another wrote,

"Deepest sympathies to Mary and all the Dalton family on the very sad passing of your dear mother Marie. A lovely lady. May her gentle soul rest in peace."
