Longford students among lowest participants in Jobbridge scheme

According to figures released by the Government, recent graduates in Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon have the lowest participation rate in the Jobbridge internship scheme.

According to figures released by the Government, recent graduates in Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon have the lowest participation rate in the Jobbridge internship scheme.

Over 20,000 internships have taken place in over 9,000 companies since the scheme started with Dublin, Galway and Cork graduates benefiting the most.

Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton, announced last month that the maximum period for completing an internship has extended from 9 to 18 months, giving graduates double the experience in a workplace environment.

Previously, there was a limit of two job placements per graduate however this has now extended to three. The Jobbridge scheme enables new graduates gain the industry experience they need in order to secure full time employment.
